About

Lets see: A coffee mug or a tentacled terror?

I am a freelance illustrator specializing in comic book and cartoon style illustration.

However I offer a range of services such as book and magazine illustration, storyboards, design and layouts, concept art, character design, portraits and caricatures.

I studied fine arts for three years at the National School for the Arts in Johannesburg, where I matriculated in 2001 with distinctions in Art and Design. In 2002, I enrolled in Michaelis School of Fine Art at University of Cape Town, but left to pursue and alternative career in music and sound engineering by studying at City Varsity of Cape town. I graduated in 2004 and did a further year of specialized study in music production and arrangement.

In 2006, started working as a full time illustrator for Strika Entertainment. My job primarily required me to illustrate and ink comic books. This involved a lot conceptual work in terms of visualizing and laying out pages before they were illustrated, as well as designing characters and environments for the comics. At times I was also required to colour pages, storyboards and conceptual work for the animation department. I worked on a variety of projects for clients from around the world, such as Caltex (locally and internationally), Stabenfeldt (Norway), Malta Vigor (Panama), MTN, SARS, Eskom and African Bank.

While I was employed at Strika I did freelance work on the side for clients such as Cybersmart and Supernannies, as well as working as a guitar teacher. In 2010, I left Strika to become a full time freelancer.

As an Illustrator one is required to be able to draw anything, from mundane everyday scenes to fantastic stretches of the imagination and everything in-between Be it coffee cup or a tentacled hour from beyond the stars, a petrol pump or a six-armed guitar goddess standing on a sloth, I will draw it for you.

I look forward to working with you and turning dreams (and nightmares!) into reality!
